It is understood the charges related to Mr Pluta's required appearance at a CCC "star chamber" hearing in relation to Queensland Rail leaks.

It would be alleged he told another person about the CCC appearance for a directed interview in relation to an investigation undertaken by the CCC.

Mr Pluta, who did not work for the rail operator, had previously spoken out about leaking information, obtained from sources, about Queensland Rail issues.

He made headlines after he obtained a report prepared by consultants Indec, which warned of train crew shortages in a draft report in January 2016, well ahead of the last-minute cancellations in October.

On Friday, Mr Pluta described the case against him as a "witch hunt".

"They've come after me because I made the government look bad," he said.

"Be very careful if anyone else is reading this and they have dirt on the government, just put your head in the sand and ignore it, because whistleblowers become the target."

A Crime and Corruption Commission spokesman said it would not comment specifically on the matter.

But he said the CCC did not discourage people from making public interest disclosures.

"It is committed to the objectives of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010, and to the protections it provides for those who make public interest disclosures contained within that act and other legislation," he said.

"The CCC is unable to comment further as the matter is now before the court."

Mr Pluta said the case would cost him $50,000 to $100,000 to defend.

"I'm facing bankruptcy," he said.

"I definitely will be seeking a full brief of evidence ... I do not believe I have done anything wrong," he said.

On Thursday, the CCC said a 45-year-old Jamboree Heights man was issued with a notice to appear in court to face a charge of Disclosure of a Confidential CCC Notice following an investigation by the CCC.

Mr Pluta was due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 14.

The charge carries a penalty of up to one year in jail.
