The older brother of a teen sent to juvenile detention for his role in an extortion ring that targeted men through the gay hook-up app Grindr will be sentenced for blackmail.

After planning to fight the charge, the man entered a guilty plea at the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was one of four people charged with offences linked to the scam earlier this year.
Police charged him with making an unwarranted demand for money to obtain a gain in relation to the extortion scam, while his 17-year-old brother was sentenced in May to 19 months' detention, to be suspended from mid-August upon him entering a 12-month good behaviour order, for his role.
Another young person, who pleaded guilty to blackmail, avoided detention this month when ACT Children's Court chief magistrate Lorraine Walker handed him a four-month term of imprisonment, suspended on condition he entered a good behaviour order.
Magistrate Beth Campbell on Thursday committed the man to the Supreme Court for sentencing on July 6 and continued his bail.
