David Kisun, 69, pleaded not guilty to three charges of indecently assaulting a male for offences that allegedly occurred between February and December in 1982.

He was one of four former teachers charged last year after a major investigation into historical child sexual abuse in the ACT in the 1980s.

Kisun declined to give evidence or call any witnesses when he faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday.

Magistrate Bernadette Boss committed him to stand trial on the three alleged offences in the higher court.

ACT Policing launched Operation Attest, run by a team of highly experienced child abuse investigators, in response to evidence aired at the child abuse royal commission.

New laws introduced into the ACT Legislative Assembly in 2013 cleared the path for certain historical sexual offences, committed between 1951 and 1985, to be prosecuted.

Three other former teachers – John William Chute, 83, and Gregory Joseph Sutton, 64, and Peter Cuzner, 60 of Kaleen – have also been charged with historical child sexual abuse.

Cuzner pleaded not guilty in February to three acts of indecency against a 14-year-old boy in 1986.

Chute, also known as Brother Kostka, was charged with two indecent assaults on a male and two acts of indecency on a child, while Sutton faces three charges of indecent assault on a male.

Neither man has entered pleas.

Their lawyer previously signalled that the men could seek to avoid going on trial for their alleged crimes.

Ms Boss continued Kisun's bail. The matter will return to court later this month.
