The second level of the Myer Department store in Civic was evacuated after reports of smoke in the building.
Firefighters were called to the store shortly before 1.30pm to find a small amount of smoke from malfunctioning machinery in an office area, an ACT Emergency Services spokesperson said.
Crews will ventilate the building and conduct atmospheric monitoring before allowing staff and customers back inside.
Meanwhile ActewAGL is working to restore electricity to parts of Phillip and Woden.
Around 92 homes were impacted by the outage which occurred shortly before 2pm.
An ActewAGL spokesman said the interruption was caused by a feeder trip, but what caused the trip is currently under investigation.
He confirmed Westfield Woden was not affected.
Power should be restored by 4pm.
