ACT Policing nabbed 121 drunk and drugged drivers in May as part of a targeted campaign, including 96 people driving over the legal alcohol limit and 25 caught with a positive indication of drugs in their system.

Police were waiting to confirm some results via a laboratory test.

Traffic Operations officer in charge, station sergeant Susan Ball said she was disappointed Canberrans chose to risk their safety and the safety of others and warned drunk and drugged drivers would be caught.

"It's disappointing that anyone would get behind the wheel when they've had too much to drink – it's dangerous for themselves, their passengers and everyone else on the road," she said.

"Even more disappointing is the concerning number of drug drivers on our roads. Our message to them is don't do drugs, don't do drugs and drive. If you do, we will catch you."

Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team sergeant Richard Dauth said ACT Policing would turn its attention to driver distraction in June, including the use of mobile phones.

"One of the biggest driver distractions is the use of mobile phones and, as the cold Canberra weather sets in, frosted and iced windscreens," he said.

"We'll be targeting any kind of driver distraction, from mobile phones, frosted windows, eating and drinking to drivers distracted by pets or children in the car."
