For the first time, Home and Away has filmed an episode in the nation's capital, with the episode to air on Prime next week.
The episode centres around Alf Stewart, played by Ray Meagher, who becomes upset with the younger generation's perceived lack of respect for Anzac Day, and joins the school trip to Canberra to visit the War Memorial.
Alf ends up being taken to hospital where he bonds with a World War II veteran, and the students put together a dawn service for their Summer Bay hometown.
The episode was filmed in November last year, with filming taking place at the World War II exhibition, Vietnam Hall, Pool of Reflection and Roll of Honour at the War Memorial.
Ray, who travelled to Canberra for the episode with co-stars including Shane Withington, Charlie Clausen, Philippa Northeast, Jake Speer and Jackson Gallagher, was full of praise for the national institution.
"The Australian War Memorial was magnificent, it was just incredible. The day shoot there was fantastic," he said.
The episode will air on Prime on Thursday, April 16 at 7pm.
