What's old is new again
You've seen the movie, loved the clothes and now it's time to live the glamorous life, even if it's just for one night. The Dressmaker 1950s Vintage Ball promises a night of fashion and fun.
Don your favourite era dress, and take in an evening viewing of the costume exhibition featuring outfits from the Australian film.
If it's a party you're after, catch a swing dance demonstration before picking up a few steps yourself and hitting the dancefloor to the sounds of the five-piece Dan McLean Big Band. National Film and Sound Archive. Saturday, April 27. 7-11pm. Tickets $25. 18+ event.
Drink up
Calling all beer lovers; this is a beer festival with a difference. A historical difference to be precise. The Harmonie German Club celebrates the 503rd anniversary of the introduction of Duke Wilhelm IV's purity laws, the only way they know how: with beer.
The beerfest is a great place to get started with a history lesson on how the Bavarian nobleman laid down the law to protect the amber brew, limiting its ingredients to water, barley and hops.
Not interested in a history lesson? We're sure the club's beer hall-style party - complete with Oompah band and German street food - is more than enough to make for a tempting night. Harmonie German Club. Saturday, April 27. 6pm. Tickets $12.58.
Game on
With final season now well and truly upon us what better time to flex your Game of Thrones knowledge? Get your house together and prove that you are worthy to claim the Iron Throne.
Disclaimer: the Iron Throne is not actually up for grabs, however an axe-throwing experience is on offer, accompanied by a medieval feast (which hopefully won't turn out like the Red Wedding). The Durham. Saturday, April 27. 7pm. Tickets $10.
Laugh out loud
They say laughter is the best medicine, and yoga is key to achieving zen. So what happens when you combine the two?
Now's your time to find out with Torrens Community Yoga hosting a laughter yoga event. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and to bring a yoga mat (if they have one). Torrens Community Hall. Saturday, April 27. 2pm.
Step back in time
Let's set the scene. The year is 1969 and Neil Armstrong has just said the now famous words: "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
It was an iconic moment but do you really know everything there is to know about the moon landing? Trek through the world of moon rocks and tracking stations at the Museum of Australian Democracy.
Daily until Sunday, 11am and 3pm. Tickets are $8 and bookings are essential. Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes and to bring sunglasses.
