The former junior Wallabies enforcer and Canterbury Crusaders squad member has agreed to a two-year deal in Canberra, signing a contract with the Brumbies for the 2020 and 2021 Super Rugby seasons.
The deal will be announced on Friday morning and Frost will jump straight into Brumbies training and play for the Queanbeyan Whites in the John I Dent Cup this weekend.
The Brumbies could also land another interstate recruit, with the Brumbies keen to to add NSW flanker Will Miller. Miller looms as back-row option as David Pocock weighs up his Australian rugby future.
Frost, a 205 centimetre second-rower, is the perfect man to fill the void left by departing duo Rory Arnold (France) and Sam Carter (Ireland), who are both leaving at the end of the Super Rugby campaign.
He will team up with Darcy Swain, Murray Douglas and Blake Enever in the Brumbies' engine room and the highly-rated big man is a huge boost for the ACT's recruitment drive.
Frost was reportedly pursued by several AFL clubs and moved to New Zealand to take a chance with Super Rugby powerhouse, the Canterbury Crusaders.
But Rugby Australia was keen to have him back in the country and the Brumbies swooped to help fill the gaps in their lineout.
Frost is now a part of an emerging group of Brumbies young guns, which includes Swain, Len Ikitau, Ryan Lonergan, Tom Ross, Mack Hansen, Folau Faingaa and Jordan Jackson-Hope.
The Brumbies are also in the box seat to add former scrumhalf Nic White to their roster as he edges closer to finalising a deal to return to Australia.
White has been playing in Europe in recent years, but is keen to return home and it's understood he has nominated the Brumbies as his club of preference.
Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has been keeping one eye on the future while also juggling the team's finals ambitions this year.
The Brumbies play the Blues in Canberra on Saturday night and a big win could see them jump to the top of the Australian conference, but a loss could be a fatal blow for their play-off hopes.
The Brumbies have lost their past three games in a row against the Blues, but will be desperate to win at home after two weeks on the road in Argentina and South Africa.
