And the NRL agrees, with Canberra Stadium an option going forward.
The NRL will hold their inaugural Magic Round this weekend with all eight games played at Suncorp Stadium from Thursday to Sunday.
Sutton's Green Machine will face the ladder-leading Sydney Roosters on Sunday, in what is shaping as the match of the weekend.
The NRL have taken the concept from the English Super League's Magic Weekend, which has been held at iconic stadiums throughout the United Kingdom.
During his time at Wigan, Sutton played at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium as well as Newcastle United's St James' Park.
Sutton felt a similar idea could work in the NRL.
"I think it will be a success just because the concept of it is really good," he said. "It's good to play at different venues, especially different venues away from rugby like the AFL.
"It's a great concept to go to different places that wouldn't usually watch rugby league or watch it as much as other sports."
That's an option that's at the forefront of the NRL's thinking as well.
They want to see whether their first running is a success, which it's shaping to be, before making any decisions on its future.
But if it does go ahead then they're open to offers.

The Super League version has been held in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle and will be at Liverpool's Anfield this year.
"We will look at how successful it is and then look at any proposals to take it elsewhere," an NRL spokesman said.
"It's shaping well. The plan is definitely to move it around. We've got options now. Bankwest Stadium is an option.
"Places like Newcastle and Canberra, they're places which can put proposals to the NRL."
But Magic Round has been anything but for Raiders prop Sia Soliola.
Soliola joked he never had much luck when he was playing for St Helens before joining Canberra.
He played in four Magic Weekends for a total of one draw and three losses.
But before Raiders fans get too worried about a Soliola curse, Sutton's Magic haul of four wins and one draw more than compensates.
"I can't remember winning too many games on Magic Weekend over there unfortunately, it wasn't so magic for me," Soliola said.
"I played at Etihad Stadium a few times, a couple up at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, so that made it really special because you were playing in different territories and countries.
"With all the different communities from the 16 teams being under one roof it's pretty cool."
