No excuse for delay in safeguarding nurses

The issuing of a provisional improvement notice relating to workplace safety at the ACT Adult Mental Health Unit ought to be a matter of concern, even embarrassment, for the Health Directorate. The WorkSafe ACT notice, which was issued in July shortly after a nurse was reportedly assaulted, called for bed closures and/or staff increases to ensure nurses were less likely to be subjected to violence or aggression at the hands of patients housed at the facility.
