Living in Vienna, his press material states Sohn finds inspiration ‘‘between the calm serenity of the mountainous landscape and the busy hubbub of the city’’. Which says it all really.
Sohn is his own man and creates synthscapes that give him space to play to another strength – that super sweet, soulful vocal. Although artifice almost took over the art on track opener Tempest, things relaxed, and from the R’n’B styled pop of Artiface, the stuttering electro climax in Bloodflows, or the cooler Ransom Notes – there is a luscious, active and stylish musical mind behind this album.
