A MEMORIAL for shark attack victim Christine Armstrong is expected to be held in a week at the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club.
A spokesman for the club said the memorial would probably take place at 8am on Monday April 14.
Mrs Armstrong, 63, was attacked while on her regular morning swim at Tathra Beach on Thursday.
Supported by friends and family, grieving husband Rob returned to the water on Saturday morning for the first time since the fatal attack 48 hours earlier.
Close friend and Far South Coast branch president Tony Rettke joined Mr Armstrong in the water at Tathra Beach, as he has done for many years.
''There were a group of about 25 of us, and he got lots of cuddles and that was great,'' he said.
''With Rob leading the way, we swam out about 50 metres and caught a few waves and then came back for coffee and breakfast as you usually would.''
Mr Rettke, who was not swimming with the group on the morning of the attack, said in memory of Mrs Armstrong some wore floral beach caps, which were usually worn on birthdays.
The beach was officially reopened at 10am Saturday, with heightened patrols over the weekend in addition to usual patrols from the Tathra surf club.
Mr Rettke said there would be fear among swimmers at the beach but most were taking a practical approach, realising the chance of such a tragedy happening again was remote.
''The flags are back up, the patrols are on. We have about half a dozen people in the water,'' he said.
''We may be a few people down in numbers but really, at this time of year, on an overcast day, it's pretty normal.''
There was a shark scare on Saturday at Bondi, with swimmers rushed out of the water at about 1.15pm. Fishers had mistaken a school of fish for a shark.
