The ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct each burn between 6pm and 10pm, weather permitting, it said in a statement.
There may be some smoke above the city from the burns, and the Health Directorate said people with asthma and other chronic respiratory or cardiac diseases should be careful.
“The Nicholls north burn, near Stedman Place will be approximately half a hectare in size. One heavy tanker, one medium tanker and eight personnel will conduct the burn,” it said.
“The Nicholls south burn near Cecins Place will be approximately 1.3 hectares in size. One heavy tanker, one medium tanker and eight personnel will conduct the burn.
“The Fraser burn at Mt Rodgers, near Wickens Place will be approximately 1.9 hectares in size. One heavy tanker, one Compressed Air Foam System tanker, two medium tankers and 20 personnel will conduct the burn.
“The Latham burn at Umbagong District Park, near Denny Street will be approximately 1.5 hectares in size. One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, one command vehicle and 10 personnel will conduct the burn.”
