Helpmann's ideas soared above White's flights of fancy

ROBERT Helpmann claimed that his first work for the Australian Ballet, The Display (1964), was inspired by a dream he had in which he saw his friend and colleague, Katharine Hepburn, naked on a dais surrounded by lyrebirds.
