But now they've filled the Sharks shed with the celebratory chant for the second consecutive week after defeating the Warriors 26-12 in the battle of Belconnen.

The damage was done in the first half as the Sharks left the Warriors scoreless and swam ahead to an 18-point lead at Raiders Belconnen Oval.

The Sharks set the pace from the opening whistle and finished the half with an 83 per cent completion rate, despite being behind in the penalty count.

Belconnen's high completion rate earned the side a score of close-range tries, but coach Scott Logan attributed the victory to their defensive pressure.

"The game was built on our defence and our attitude towards keeping them out," Logan said.

"The guys had been working really hard at training and they were able to transition that onto the field. It was an all-round effort by the whole team."

Makeshift halfback Matt Woolnough went down with a rolled ankle early in the first half and Belconnen then played a portion of the game with only 12 players after front-rower Sonny Tupuola was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul. The Warriors were attacking the Sharks' front line and Tupuola gave away a penalty with 25 minutes left for trying to slow the play-the-ball down.

With only 16 players on the bench, numerous injuries and a suspension, Logan praised the Sharks for their relentless drive and fitness.

"To pull off a win like that where we've had to defend the way we did is fairly draining," Logan said.

"Our patience and attitude towards what we had to do to set up the win."

The victory comes after Belconnen suffered a slow start to the season where they failed to mark the scoreboard until their round six clash against the Yass Magpies.

Logan said last week's 18-6 victory built up confidence and belief that they could overcome their neighborhood rivals.

"It certainly builds confidence," Logan said. "There were times that we really dug deep last week and it showed them that with that effort they can certainly back it up against anyone.

"West Belconnen is one of the better teams so it certainly instilled a lot of belief that they could do that."
