Police have issued their public thanks through social media to two cyclists who offered up their bikes to help chase down the man who rammed a police car, and drove into several others.

It recalled the successful arrest of an offender near Lake Ginninderra.
The 29-year-old man, who is now awaiting sentencing, had driven dangerously and on the wrong side of Belconnen's busy streets, eventually causing a crash which flipped one car on its roof.
After the offender fled on foot, two passing cyclists saw police giving chase and gave up their bikes to assist.
