This is a lovely little tale, and today we'll share the words as originally printed on the front page on this day in 1970:

Picture the scene if you can, please. It was just one of those days.
The bride was there, the groom just just made it (his car broke down) and there was no sign of the photographer.
"I wanted a way-out wedding, but I didn't expect this," said the bride.
Mr T. J. Bennett, of Adelaide, and Miss K. Cameron, of Braddon, were married at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Braddon, at 6pm yesterday. They had arranged for a photographer but he "just didn't turn up".
The driver of the hire car suggested coming to The Canberra Times - so there they were in full wedding rig parading across Cooyong Street.
And we hope they live happily ever after.
We think this photo and scene is just about perfection, right down to the lit Mobil sign in the background, reminding us of the old character of Braddon with its car yards, servos and, yes, this newspaper at its old home on Mort Street.
