Red Joan (M)
When the young Joan Stanley (Sophie Cookson) was studying physics at Cambridge in the 1930s she became involved with communists and radical politics through her friend Sonya (Tereza Srbova) and Leo (Tom Hughes), a German Jew. Her story, which reaches as far back as 1938, is recalled in flashbacks as Joan in old age (Judi Dench) is questioned by the Special Branch over allegedly providing the USSR with nuclear secrets. Adapted from a novel based on a true story. The formidable veteran Dench is always popular with audiences of a certain age so they will probably brave the cold to see her.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (M)
Powerful mutant Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) begins to develop powers that corrupt her and turn her into Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than all the people living in the world.
