He went full gas and it almost paid off for Canberra cyclist Michael Matthews, who sits on the podium of the Tour de Suisse after the opening stage.

Matthews is third overall, just one second behind leader Dennis Rohan - who completed the 9.6 kilometre time trial in 10 minutes and 50 seconds.
The Team Sunweb rider was looking forward to the remaining eight stages, which will form a crucial part of Tour de France preparations for many of the riders.
"I'm happy with the performance today," Matthews said.
"It was a full gas effort against the clock and we were super close to getting the win, finishing just one second behind the winner in the end.
"Tomorrow is another day and we'll have to see what happens.
"I'm looking forward to a good week of racing here at the Tour de Suisse."
