For seven long days the Belconnen Magpies were forced to mull over a disappointing performance against Ainslie.
But last week's loss is certain to fade into distant memory after the Magpies crushed the Tuggeranong Hawks 23.16 (154) to 4.3 (27) at Greenway Oval on Saturday.
The Magpies flexed their muscles early, booting eight first-quarter goals en route to the mammoth 127-point victory.
It was the type of start James Bennett was looking for, but the Belconnen coach was left more impressed by his side's consistency throughout the four-quarters.
"Last week we were really good for the first 15 minutes, but a really big lapse cost us the game," Bennett said.
"We didn't play well enough and we needed to come together as a team and really improve on that effort.
"So I did challenge the guys to stay focused and push hard for the full four-quarters, which I think they did today."
Bennett himself put in a man-of-the-match performance, steering the ship for Belconnen alongside midfield bulls Beau Walker and Isaac Taylor.
Forward Daniel Jordan continued his goal scoring form for the Magpies, bagging five majors to extend his lead on top of the AFL Canberra goal-kickers list.
"I think it's pretty hard not to rate Daniel," Bennett said.
"He's been running and jumping at the footy, he's got great hands and a great kick, so we definitely rate him and he gives us a really good target up forward.
Meanwhile, the Ainslie Tricolours won their third game in a row with an 23.14 (152) to 7.8 (50) thumping of the Gungahlin Jets on Friday night.
While a huge top-four clash between the Queanbeyan Tigers and Eastlake Demons will close out the round on Sunday.
