That's why, as Brad Fittler contemplates a new halves pairing in the midst of Mitchell Pearce's career-best form, Wade Graham's impressive showing and Nathan Cleary's injury, Wighton may be better left alone.
Wighton is a contender for the NSW Blues' No. 6 jersey for the State of Origin decider but Canberra Raiders coach Stuart expects him to stay at left centre.
For in that same position he shut down Queensland's potent weapons and helped NSW draw level in emphatic fashion.
"It's easy to say he has played there before," Stuart said.
"But he has only played a City-Country game there four years ago, and he hasn't played there in an NRL game for almost five years. The way he did it just shows the utility value of the guy, and when you want something so bad, what can be achieved.
"I can't see Brad changing [Wade] Graham and [James] Maloney. I think he'll keep [Tom] Trbojevic and Jack in the centres."
The Wighton the dilemma has left Raiders co-captain Josh Hodgson stumped. Either way, he says Fittler has a winner.
"When you've got someone like Jack in your team, I know from playing with him week in, week out, he's just got that attitude where he'll turn up all day and do anything he needs to do for the team," Hodgson said.
"Whether you put him in at six or you put him at three, that's up to Freddy, but wherever he is picked he will do a fantastic job."
