The son Brady Sheather, 21, was charged with manslaughter and his mother Megan Sheather, 48, with accessory after the fact of manslaughter.
It is alleged Brady Sheather and his father Phillip Sheather, 56, got into a fight on February 23 and police allege Brady Sheather assaulted his father.
According to police, this caused Phillip Sheather to fall backwards and hit his head.
Paramedics attended the Bungendore home where they found Phillip Sheather unconscious and provided assistance. It was reported he had fallen.
Phillip Sheather died in the Intensive Care Unit at the Canberra Hospital two days later.
A post-mortem examination revealed he had suffered serious head injuries.
It is alleged Mrs Sheather was complicit in providing false information to police after the incident.
Investigations were initiated by ACT Policing before being transferred to their NSW counterparts.
Officers from the Monaro Police District formed Strike Force Kokal following Phillip Sheather's death and the arrests come after a four-month investigation.
Brady and Megan Sheather both appeared in the Queanbeyan Local Court via video link on Thursday and neither applied for bail.
They were remanded in custody and the matters were adjourned until September.
