Senior Constable Josh Peach said about 1.30pm on Tuesday, Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were notified of a personal location beacon activation on the Cradle Cirque by Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
"The Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a land team of Police Search and Rescue members were activated to the area," Senior Constable Peach said.
"A family of three people, consisting of a mother, son, and daughter from Canberra were located in the emergency shelter on the Cradle Cirque. The helicopter was able to land near the shelter and fly them from the area.
"The PLB was activated after the family encountered extreme weather conditions, which were exacerbated by minor injuries acquired due to those conditions."
