They weren't the two biggest stories of the day, but two pieces based on the TV and video habits of Canberrans made their way onto the front page on this day in 1990 and are a neat snapshot of the times.

The first was a TV ratings update, in which Capital's Ten News had knocked off Neighbours for top spot. Prime TV was making a move up the leaderboard thanks to the dependable A Country Practice. But "Canberrans are rapidly tiring of Graham Kennedy's Funniest Home Video Show". Later on in the night Steve Vizard's Tonight Live was giving a kicking to Clive Robertson's Robbo's World Tonight.
The other story focused on the watching habits of one very notable Canberran of the day, Canberra Raiders star Bradley Clyde. Poor Clydey was laid up at home after knee surgery and watching up to seven movies on video each day.
"It must be some kind of record. It's lucky the Raiders are sponsored by Video Ezy,'' Clyde said.
