Michael Reginald Baker was extradited from NSW to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on charges of attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
He did not enter pleas and did not apply for bail.
It's alleged the man, along with a second person, entered a store in Fyshwick on January 7. Both were armed with guns, police said.
ACT police allege the 52-year-old attempted to fire a shot at the business owner, before fleeing the scene in a car.
The car, with two guns inside, was later found by police in Kambah.
The second offender was arrested earlier this year on aggravated robbery and reckless threat to kill charges.
Mr Baker will return to court next month.
