The man, from Holt, was arrested by ACT police on Friday, following a month-long investigation into the alleged incident.
The child is not his, but that of an ex-partner.
The man, who has not been named to protect the identity of the child, is charged with act endangering life - choke render unconscious and using a carriage service to harass.
He has entered pleas of not guilty to both charges.
He appeared briefly before the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday where he was granted bail unopposed by prosecutors.
His release came with a list of strict conditions including not contacting nor approaching a list of people, and not entering the suburb of Mawson.
In a statement outside court, police said they were called out to a home in Monash on June 1 after 7pm by paramedics, who were trying to revive the child with CPR.
The 11-month-old was then taken to hospital.
Following the incident, police said they set up an investigation, which led to the arrest of the 32-year-old.
