Valetini will play for Wests in their clash against the Tuggeranong Vikings at Viking Park on Saturday and he will use the match as a chance to impress Test coach Michael Cheika.
Valetini started the week in South Africa hoping to be picked in the Wallabies' first team of the year to play against the Springboks on Sunday morning (AEST).
The 113 kilogram 20-year-old, describe by Brumbies coach Dan McKellar as a piece of "granite", ended the week at John I Dent Cup training after a 20-hour journey to get back to the capital.
"It's been a big week. I'm excited that I get a chance to play, a chance to work on my fitness and a few little things [I learnt] in Wallabies camp," Valetini said.
"The camp over in South Africa was a pretty big learning curve for me. There are a few things I have to work on to push for selection in the team.
"It's definitely added some motivation, knowing I want to be in that team. I have to get better to do that so I'll keep working to try my best."
Valetini is one of several ACT Brumbies players returning to the premier division this weekend to get game time.
Wingers Henry Speight and Toni Pulu are also trying to force their way back on to Cheika's radar, while Pete Samu will miss at least one more week after injuring his hamstring.
There will be 15 Brumbies players spread around at various clubs and Valetini is keen to take an opportunity to "whack" some of his Super Rugby teammates.
Wests are out of finals contention, but the Vikings are still chasing top spot and will be bolstered by the return of Noah Lolesio, Darcy Swain, Ryan Lonergan, Lachlan Lonergan, Len Ikitau and Vunipola Fifita. "I'm looking forward to running into a few of them," Valetini said.

"The whole point is to come back here and to get some game time because I wasn't going to play in South Africa. Then we'll see what happens from there, I'm just happy to be playing."
Cheika has been keeping a close eye on Valetini's development, earmarking him as a future Wallaby before he had even made his Super Rugby debut last year.
Three knee injuries have stalled his rise, limiting him to just three games in his debut season and 10 games this year.
But Valetini has showed enough promise and power to emerge as a World Cup bolter in Cheika's squad.
The Wallabies will play just five Tests before their World Cup opener on September 21, giving Valetini limited time to impress.
"I've been trying to see this game as a chance to work on the things I've learnt in Wallabies camp and get those things right," Valetini said.
"Things like ball carrying, catching away from my chest and footwork at the line. Repeated efforts as well, I'm keen to get into it [for Wests]."
