A fire on Mount Majura that sent smoke across part of the city was started by a campfire, the Emergency Services Agency says.

Eleven units from ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service attended the fire, near Hackett, on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire sent smoke across parts of Canberra.
"ACT Rural Fire Service crews will check the area overnight and again in the morning," the agency said.
At 3.20pm, the Bureau of Meteorology reported that the wind speed in Canberra was averaging 37km/h from the west-north-west, gusting up to 41km/h.
