Two construction companies have emerged as front runners to build the new Sydney Football Stadium with the NSW government assuring the project will be delivered on time.

NSW Sport Minister John Sidoti on Thursday confirmed Multiplex and John Holland have been invited to participate in the tender process to rebuild Allianz Stadium after the firm that knocked it down in late July walked away from the beleaguered project.
The venue is due to be rebuilt by 2022 with Mr Sidoti saying the project remains on time and on budget.
"We know that if we want to continue attracting global events we need our stadiums to be the best in the world but the NSW public expects us to negotiate the best price," he said in a statement on Thursday.
The coalition government came under scrutiny in July after it revealed the offer from Lendlease - which knocked down the venue at Moore Park - to rebuild the stadium did not meet its expectations and the search was on for another builder.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian admitted there had never been a construction contract in place despite the government announcing in December that Lendlease was "the construction contractor".
AAP understands while Lendlease did bid for the construction phase, the government wanted the firm to do the work for less than it thought feasible without cutting corners.
The total budget for knocking down and rebuilding the stadium is $729 million.
Lendlease will continue to oversee stage one demolition work of the stadium which the government says is on track for completion by the end of the year.
