Baker became the second Canberra Demon to claim the NEAFL Rising Star award in as many years on Sunday night.
He polled 68 votes to go within a whisker of claiming the league's most valuable player award, finishing second only to Sydney University's Jake Bartholomaeus (73 votes).
Baker was named at half-back in the NEAFL team of the year alongside Canberra teammates Tom Highmore (back pocket), Alex Smout (wing) and Mitch Hardie (forward pocket).
Named in Canberra's best 14 times from 17 games, Baker averaged 30 disposals off half-back during a stellar season.
He becomes the club's second Rising Star winner is as many years after Mitch Maguire claimed the gong during Canberra's giant-killing run last season.

Baker's fitting reward was a good way to end an otherwise frustrating year for the Demons after they fell short of a second consecutive finals berth.
But Baker isn't done yet - now the key defender will look to impress AFL scouts at the AFL state draft combine in Melbourne in October.
Baker has been on the Sydney Swans' radar after an ACL tear cruelled his draft hopes as a teenager.
