Makers-Con is the chance for Canberra's superheroes, medieval, anime and comic book character lovers to spend an entire Sunday in costume for a bit of spring-time fun.
Pop culture fans and enthusiasts and will shine the spotlight on a colourful mix of interests with live action roleplay, cosplay, steampunk, leather markers, corset designers, and milliners. The Makers-Con cosplay competition offers cash prizes and sponsored prizes from Dee's Comics.
Makers-Con will include medieval re-enactments taking place throughout the day by the Society of Creative Anachronism Australia's Canberra Branch, the Barony of Politarchopolis.
The group is dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts, skills and traditions of pre-17th century history.
At Makers-Con they will showcase armoured combatants, rapier fighters, wood workers, metal workers, lace makers, weavers, as well amazing costumes made by their members.
Makers-Con stallholders will include Turnbull Creations with their laser and hand crafted creations including castles and catapults; Victorian and steampunk clothing from Annette Rolfe; a large range of comics from Dee's Comics; and unique, hand-crafted hats with a range of theatrical, cosplay, steampunk and medieval options from Christine's Millinery.
Makers-Con is on at the Old Bus Depot Markets this Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
