On Saturday, WorkSafe commissioner Greg Jones said investigators were still talking to witnesses and would conduct a full walk-through of the DKSN site on Challis Street to determine exactly what caused the worker to fall and land on building materials.
Mr Jones said the injured man remained in intensive care, but his condition had been downgraded from critical to serious but stable. Further tests needed to be done to determine the full extent of the man's injuries, but early medical advice suggested he had not suffered brain damage.
A non-disturbance notice was placed on the site after the incident, preventing anyone other than WorkSafe officials from entering the area of the site in question.
Mr Jones said that had since been replaced by a prohibition notice that allowed workers onto the site, but only to fix safety issues identified by WorkSafe. The notice, which prevents any building work, was expected to remain in place until at least Monday.
"There are some other safety issues we want fixed up before work starts again," Mr Jones said.
"There are some other 'fall-from-height' issues including falling objects, some minor electrical issues we want fixed up and some of what we call housekeeping, which is general tidiness and arrangements across the site."
Mr Jones said WorkSafe had also identified fire safety issues that needed to be rectified on the site.
The DKSN project is due for completion in 2020 and includes office space, apartments, restaurants and underground parking. The $160 million development is at the site of the old Dickson motor registry.
Gavin Edgar, the general manager of development at Doma, the development group behind DKSN, said on Friday that the building contractor for the project was co-operating fully with WorkSafe.
Bloc director Drew Mathias said the construction firm would conduct its own investigation into the Friday morning incident, alongside the WorkSafe probe.
Counselling has been offered to workers on the site.
