A Belconnen side will feature in all four of the men's and women's premier and division one Capital Volleyball grand finals at Lyneham.

It's a massive achievement for the club, but the next challenge will be trying to topple the Volleyball Australia centre of excellence in the battle for the gold medal.

Both the men's and women's premier matches will be played between Belconnen and the centre of excellence, giving Belconnen's young guns a chance to test themselves against a group of players getting ready to play on the international stage.

The men's centre of excellence side beat Belconnen convincingly in their most recent encounter in the quarter-final.

It will be the third year in a row Belconnen and the centre of excellence will face off in the men's gold medal match, with the Centre of Excellence defending its title this year.

"The centre of excellence are clear and deserved favourites," said Belconnen coach Russell Borgeaud said.

"However, we are proud of our team with a number of key players on court only 16-years-old. We're also led by some outstanding senior players."

Borgeaud is proud of the club's wide-ranging success across genders and divisions.

"The club is excited by the achievement. It's the result of years of thorough junior development by many people within the club," Borgeaud said.

This is the first season the women's centre of excellence team is competing in the premier competition.

In previous years the talented women were split up among the various Canberra clubs, making it a unique and challenging prospect for clubs this season.

"It will be an interesting dynamic with national team players on both sides of the net who are used to playing together," said centre of excellence coach Marty Collins.

"No matter the result it has been an important competitive opportunity for our team this season."

"It's always important for our young athletes to develop the ability to perform under pressure and that's why we're playing in this competition."

The centre of excellence athletes have been in intensive training at the AIS for a year and volleyball ACT boss Adam Castle said it had strengthened the competition.

"We're really happy to have them in our competition. They help to raise the standard, challenge the local players and they've integrated well into our community," Castle said.

The centre of excellence athletes are aspiring to play for Australia on the world stage and potentially at an Olympic Games.

"We're expecting a big turnout from the community to come out and to see who will claim the medals on the day," Castle said.

"It'll be a really high standard of volleyball and will be an excellent family day too."
