It's the latest in a string of accolades for the Tasmanian comedian, who took the world by storm with her powerful performance.
Gadsby beat an eyebrow-raising list of nominees to score the 2019 award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special: Beyonce, Adam Sandler, Amy Schumer, James Corden, and Wanda Sykes.
The award was announced at the Creative Arts Awards Emmys, which take place ahead of the Primetime Emmys on September 22.
Gadsby was also nominated in the category Best Variety Special (Pre-recorded), which went to an episode of James Corden's Carpool Karaoke.
Actor Russell Crowe offered his congratulations to Gadsby on Twitter, and comedian Wil Anderson said "Australian comedy is in pretty great hands".
Gadsby grew up in Smithton, Tasmania, and talks her home town - not always with the fondest memories - in Nanette.
In December last year, she won Best Performance in a Television Comedy at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.
Nanette received critical acclaim for Gadsby's handling of tough topics including homophobia and misogyny, and for her unconventional storytelling.
The Hannah Gadsby: Nanette Netflix special was filmed during a live performance at the Sydney Opera House and released on the streaming service in June 2018.
In May this year she announced her new Netflix comedy special, Douglas, would debut globally in 2020.
Gadsby began touring the show, which is named after her dog, in April. Her two performances at The Canberra Theatre on December 14 have sold out.
Other winners at the Creative Arts Awards Emmys included the Simpsons, Michael Jackson documentary Finding Neverland, and Anthony Bourdain's posthumous award for Parts Unknown.
