Six days before Richmond's AFL grand final, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Jacob Townsend kicked two goals apiece to help the VFL's Tigers to a 8.10 (58) to 7.13 (55) victory, the Seagulls left to rue a free kick that hit the post at the death.

The Tigers delivered a dominant first quarter, keeping Williamstown scoreless, before holding off a late Seagulls fightback.

Mid-season recruit Marlion Pickett won the Norm Goss Medal for best on ground.

Kangaroo Mitch Hibberd, ruckman Nick Meese and Jack Dorgan were among Williamstown's best.

Richmond's mid-season recruit Pickett booted the game's opening goal from long range, and the Tigers piled on three more majors to take a 28-point lead into quarter-time.

Leigh Masters kicked Williamstown's first goal six minutes into the second quarter to help the Seagulls get back in the game.

Richmond forward Dan Butler was reported for striking Williamstown's Nick Mellington in the stomach in the second term.

Williamstown closed to within eight points in the third term and made another push after booting the first two goals of the final quarter but the Tigers hit back through majors to Townsend, Collier-Dawkins and Oleg Markov.

Ben Kennedy then helped the Seagulls to get within five points before Willie Wheeler had a free kick to potentially decide the game.

In the dying seconds, he took a mark inside 50 - but missed again, with Richmond holding on for a three-point victory.

Earlier in the day, Collingwood defeated the Western Bulldogs in the VFLW grand final.

The Magpies were fast out of the blocks and never looked back, winning 7.10 (52) to 2.3 (15).

Magpies AFLW defender Stacey Livingstone received the Lisa Hardeman Medal for best on ground.
