Goodwin - a not-for-profit organisation and Canberra's respected provider of services to seniors - appears to have taken retirement living to the next level.
Goodwin's recent development in Crace, The Central retirement village, won the Property Council of Australia's 2019 award for ACT Development of the Year.
The ACT awards were part of the national 2019 Property Council of Australia and Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards program.
This particular award recognises the design of the property, which is conducive to the health and wellbeing of residents.
"Goodwin took a risk to develop The Central outside an established area, and in doing so has shown how retirement living can be the catalyst for an entire community," said Property Council ACT executive director Adina Cirson in a statement.
"Co-located within the shopping precinct, Goodwin and AMC architects have designed a model which offers privacy and independence - residents each have their own street address - within a supportive community with services close at hand to meet their changing needs."

Goodwin opened doors to The Central in 2017.
Located in the heart of Crace's urban precinct, it features stunning apartments, townhouses and penthouses offering a vibrant modern lifestyle.
Surrounded by manicured gardens and built to the adaptable housing code, The Central is future-proofed with a range of services at the doorstep including a shopping area, dining options, public transport, bulk-billing clinic, and easy access to parklands.
Residents have access to the village's lifestyle clubhouse, a social hub where they can catch up with friends or family and enjoy the warmth of the community that surrounds them.
They also have access to the soon-to-be-launched health and wellness centre, which offers ageing-in-place through an in-house team of health specialists, including a GP, geriatrician, physiotherapist, exercise physiologist, podiatrist and massage therapist.
A dedicated village manager and lifestyle officer are at the residents' service to assist them and make sure they get the most out of their retirement lifestyle.
There are regular events, excursions, activities and a weekly happy hour for those who wish to participate.
"Offering exceptional retirement living in a close-knit community, with no home maintenance to worry about, The Central allows its residents to focus on the very best that life has to offer," says the team at Goodwin.
