When David and Eleanor Singh booked their luxury trip around Thailand, they no doubt expected fun, romance and adventure. But despite paying in advance, the hotel manager attempted to charge them again, and when they refused and provided proof of payment, they were arrested by Thai police and taken to a station near the hotel.
They were released two hours later, but after attempting to contact their travel agent and deciding to continue on to Kho Phi Phi as originally planned, they were plagued by budget and legal concerns.
When they were finally able to speak directly to their travel agent through a reverse charges phone call, they discovered the wholesaler the trip had been booked through had gone bankrupt and the couple's money was not forwarded to the hotel.
"We had waited more than six months for this honeymoon and in the end it was a bad experience, a waste of money and a waste of time," Eleanor said.
"We were both obviously very disappointed and it is something we would rather forget."
Let's hope the couple shared many happy and less stressful moments after they returned to Australia.
