The $7500 Calibre Essay Prize is now open to all essayists writing in English. Essays must be between 2000 and 5000 words on any subject and can be personal or political, traditional or experimental. The judges are J.M. Coetzee, Lisa Gorton, and Peter Rose. First prize is $5000; the runner-up will receive $2500. Entries close on January 15, 2020. More information: australianbookreview.com.au.
