The man broke into the home about 7am on Sunday.
An ACT police spokesman said the man broke into the home with his face covered, before assaulting a person inside the home at the time of the incident.
The offender stole a wallet from the home, before running from the scene.
The intruder has been described as being between 18 and 25-years-old, between 180 and 190 centimetres tall, with a slim build and tanned skin.
He was seen wearing all black clothing, including a cap, with his face covered.
A white Ford Falcon was seen in the area at the time of the break-in, with police calling for the owner to come forward.
