In a statement, NSW police said a 33-year-old man had been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
No further details have been provided and there was no confirmation of reports that a car had been stolen in the incident.
After a spate of violent incidents in Monaro Street and the nearby taxi rank four years ago, eight CCTV cameras were installed in Queanbeyan's CBD to provide live-stream viewing to the nearby police station.
Three of the cameras are located on a pole adjacent to the council chambers, and five on the corner of Monaro and Crawford streets.
NSW police are asking anyone who has dash-cam footage or may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
