Benjamin Petterson, 35, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday morning following his extradition from Queensland.

He did not enter pleas to charges including assault, reckless threat of grievous bodily harm, theft, furious driving, failing to stop at a red light, failing to report a collision and failing to exchange details following a collision.

Police allege that on February 8 this year, Mr Petterson deliberately doused another man with diesel fuel at the 7-Eleven service station in Casey. A co-accused then allegedly began flicking an item believed to be a lighter in an attempt to light an item and throw it towards the alleged victim.

Shortly after the service station incident, police say Mr Petterson failed to exchange details with other drivers after his four-wheel drive collided with two stationary vehicles at an intersection on Horse Park Drive in Forde. He also allegedly failed to report these crashes.

The four-wheel drive was found burnt out in Queanbeyan later the same night.

Following an investigation by Gungahlin patrol officers, Mr Petterson was identified and located in Queensland, where he was in custody for unrelated matters.

When Mr Petterson was released from custody on Friday, he was re-arrested by Queensland Police and faced a hearing, where his extradition to the ACT was approved.

At a brief appearance in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday morning, Mr Petterson did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

Magistrate James Lawton remanded Mr Petterson in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on November 6.
