1. Ready, set, go
It's that time of the year again, The Canberra Times Fun Run. Join thousands of individual runners, families and friends as they stroll, walk, jog or run along one of three stunning routes - the kids' 2-kilometre course, the 5km or the 10km - that take in some of the city's most iconic landmarks including Parliamentary Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin. All runners will finish at Rond Terrace, overlooking the picturesque lake, where they can enjoy the Fun Run finale celebrations together post-race. Sunday, 7.45am. Rond Terrace. 2. Showtime
Over three big days the Queanbeyan Show will bring fun for the whole family. For the littlest show-goers, there will be the chance to cuddle a chick or watch a sheep being shorn at the Farmyard Nursery. The older kids will have sideshow alley's showbags, rides and competitions to keep them entertained. There will also be plenty of country charm including rural displays, food, music and entertainment. There will also be a performance from Shannon Noll on Saturday. 3. Gastronomy and astronomy
Join Pialligo Estate and the Canberra Astronomical Society this Friday night for an evening of feasting and stargazing. The family-friendly event includes a brief tour of the universe and a barbecue meal including Pialligo Smokehouse sausages and a selection of beer, wine and soft drink. Friday, 7.30-9.30pm. 4. Do the hustle
Explore the city in a whole new way with this weekend's Canberra Hustle. The Amazing Race-style race will take you through the streets, parks and secret spots of the capital and in teams of two, you will be answering questions, solving puzzles and completing challenges. It's not about who's the fastest but the smartest, as it's the team with the most points at the end wins. Saturday, 8am-3pm. Glebe Park. Tickets are $57.20 from Eventbrite.
5. Jewel of Canberra
Stepping into the Old Bus Depot Markets this weekend will be like stepping into a giant jewellery box. The Jewel of Canberra event will showcase a range of styles, price points and individual pieces from independent jewellery designers and craftspeople. With pieces made from silver, gold, pearls, recycled metal, glass, resin, ceramics and precious and semi-precious stones, there is something for everyone. You'll find earrings, bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks, rings and more. Sunday, 10am-4pm. Free.
