The Capitals are in the midst of a 15-day break between games with the league going on hold for a FIBA international window.

Canberra coach Paul Goriss and co-captain Marianna Tolo have linked up with the Australian Opals squad in Malaysia for a pre-Olympic qualifying tournament.

Kia Nurse has flown home to join the Canadian side while point guard Olivia Epoupa has joined the French national team.

The quartet will return to Canberra in time for the Capitals' clash with the Perth Lynx at the National Convention Centre on November 24.

Goriss feared the break came at a bad time for the Capitals after they knocked over the Southside Flyers and Melbourne Boomers on the road.

But Froling says the timing is almost perfect after Canberra rose to second on the WNBL ladder.

It gives the likes of Alex Delaney, Abby Cubillo, Gemma Potter and development players Lily Scanlon, Shakera Reilly, Pyper Thornberry and Maddy Wheatley a chance to find their feet at practice.

"It's really come at a good time for us, especially rolling in with that momentum with two big wins," Froling said.

"We're still training, lifting, and doing all those things. We're scrimmaging on Saturday to keep our game fitness up and get some of those players who haven't been playing as much or are a bit younger back on the same page.

"It's a really good chance for us to rest up for those players playing big minutes. For some of our younger players it's really good.

"They can get a bit more involved and learn the play, get back on top of things and feel a bit more comfortable.

"The other girls are all overseas and they're playing, so we can't really have a big break at this point.

"For me, it's just nice to catch up on uni. It has been really hectic, and we've been travelling a fair bit too. That was a five-day trip to Melbourne, so I was definitely missing out on a few classes.

"It's nice to have a bit of time in Canberra when we don't have a whole lot going on and I can just catch up on study and some sleep."

Froling has put up career-high numbers this season as the 23-year-old emerges as the face of Canberra's young brigade.

"We're relied upon a lot more this year than we were last year when we did have a whole range of such great players," Froling said.

"Everyone has played their role perfectly and stepped up. Maddy [Rocci] played really well on the weekend and stepped up when we needed her.

"Gemma has come in and hasn't missed a beat. Being 17, that's amazing. That's our role, we've all jumped into it.

"Everyone wants to play big minutes and score, we're grabbing that with both hands. So far it has been working so hopefully that can continue."
