There is Tolo herself, who has rebounded from a raft of major injuries to achieve the feat. There is Canberra Capitals coach Paul Goriss, who was once brought to tears after Tolo returned from an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Then there is her Capitals teammate Keely Froling, for whom the mention of Tolo's name sparks the widest of smiles.

Tolo is set to make her return for the Opals in an Olympic Games pre-qualifying tournament in Malaysia against Chinese Taipei on Thursday, India on Saturday and Japan on Sunday.

Kia Nurse is also on international duties during the FIBA window having flown home to join Canada while point guard Olivia Epoupa has linked up with France.

Froling hopes they can bring their international-calibre play back when their WNBL season resumes against Perth at the National Convention Centre on November 24.

For now she simply couldn't be happier for her captain.

"I love Tolo, she is such a great player and such a great teammate too," Froling said.

"She works so hard so I'm so glad she made that team again, because she really deserves it. I'm really proud of her.

"Any time you go to an international event, it's a big step up. To come back to the WNBL, hopefully they can keep that step up and keep us rolling.

"She works so hard. You probably don't see that so much, but she is in there every day and she is always so positive.

"It's really good to see her back in that team, and hopefully she can keep it rolling into Tokyo next year."

The Tokyo Games, right where Tolo thinks Froling could be in a position to join her.

Tolo has backed the 23-year-old to start banging on the door of the national side en route to Tokyo following a superb calendar year.

Froling claimed the NSW Waratah League's most valuable player award and starred for Australia in the three-on-three format.

Now she has carried her form into the WNBL - as both a starter and a bench player in Canberra's title defence.

"Everyone wants to start, but if you look at who is ahead at me, it's kind of hard at the moment," Froling said.

"I've still come in and done my job so I can't really complain. I just wanted to come out and play how I know I can play.

"I had a big off-season, training and stuff, and even just training against Kelsey every day.

"That's who I'm against every day, and I feel like I can hold my own sometimes against her, so if I can do that against Kelsey in training, why can't I do that against anyone in the league?

"That's really my mindset right now."
