It takes his mind off football and refreshes him.
It's why he relished the chance to make his first-grade debut for ANU in the 50-over John Gallop Cup at ANU North on Saturday.
The Students have been chasing him to play for a while and finally he was able to fit in a game.
In between the end of the NRL season, the beginning of the Raiders pre-season, his own wedding, a honeymoon and former teammates Jordan Rapana's wedding.
It's the highest level he's played since he suited up for NSW Country when he was 16 or 17.
"Some blokes like playing PlayStation or whatever, but this takes my mind away from footy and training," Williams said.
"Cricket's a passion of mine and it refreshes me rather than takes it out of me.
"I can come down and have a game, meet new people and I think it refreshes me more than takes it out of the tank."

It's no wonder he hasn't found time to sign the two-year deal the Green Machine's put on the table.
He'll form part of the Raiders' playmaker stocks, along with recruit George Williams and star five-eighth Jack Wighton - Aidan Sezer looks set to join English Super League club Huddersfield on a three-year deal.
"I think it's all pretty well sorted. I've just got to speak to my agent," he said.
"I've been away in Hawaii on my honeymoon. I think we've always been pretty comfortable with how things were, but I've just got to ring him back and make sure she's all done.
"I'm quite sure that it's only a formality now."
But this was meant to be about the cricket. Where young Raiders fans were peering through the fence trying to get a glimpse of Williams.
And it was all set up for a Williams onslaught to guide ANU home.
They'd let Tuggeranong Valley get a few too many in the first innings - 5-262 with Michael Barrington-Smith leading the way with 85.
ANU slipped to 5-111 in reply, bringing Williams to the crease, but it wasn't to be. They fell 60 runs short with Williams' 31 part of a number of ANU starts that didn't go on with it.
The Tuggeranong bowlers shared the wickets around, with Daniel Oshyer's 2-17 the best.
"It was a bit disappointing. We probably leaked 30 or 40 runs too many and it made it a little tough at the end," Williams.
"We sort of had to push the go button a little bit more than we would've liked to.
"But it was good to get out there and have a hit ... I don't get a lot of really good standard cricket week-in, week-out so I took a little bit of time to find my feet at the crease."
Williams was unsure when his next hitout would be. Rapana's getting hitched in New Zealand next weekend. The pre-season starts December 4.
But he's hopeful he won't be a one-hit wonder.
"I've got a couple of things coming up. I'll just try and have a hit when I can," Williams said.
"It was enjoyable. I'll try and get a few more games in."
In other games, an unbeaten John Rogers century guided Weston Creek Molonglo to a 142-run thrashing of Eastlake at Kingston.
Rogers 112 came off just 56 balls as he destroyed the Eastlake attack.
He came to the crease with the Creekers struggling at 5-149 before helping his side to an imposing total.
Djali Bloomfield, who shone in the Prime Minister's XI at Manuka Oval recently, led the way with the ball, taking 3-28.
Queanbeyan cruised to a six-wicket victory with 21 overs to spare after they bowled Ginninderra out for just 167 - Mark Solway the destroyer with 4-37.
Vele Dukoski's 69 then set up the comfortable win.
Western District chased down North Canberra-Gungahlin's 9-229 for a three-wicket win with just five balls to spare.
