1. Feel the love
It's no secret that Canberra is a beautiful city, and a group of local photography enthusiasts have banded together to show it off. For the love of Canberra is an exhibition which takes the work from six Canberra-based Instagrammers and puts them on display. Saturday's opening event will see refreshments offered by Capital Brewery. Saturday, 5-7pm. Canberra and Region Visitors Centre. Free event with registrations via Eventbrite. Exhibition continues until January 25.
2. Laugh out loud
Who doesn't like an early Christmas present? While the Canberra Comedy Festival is set to return in March next year, for one night only they're bringing a taste of what's to come. A Very Canberra Comedy Festival Christmas is a two-hour show, cramming in some of the finest comedians of the 2020 festival including Matt Okine, Nath Valvo, Steph Tisdell and Tom Ballard. Saturday, 7.30pm. Canberra Theatre Centre. Tickets are $44.90 from canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
3. Wine not?
According to funnyman Merrick Watts, wine is the perfect match with comedy, which is why he came up with Grapes of Mirth. It gives people the chance for people to share a bottle of wine, and share a laugh at the same time - it really is a win-win situation. The relaxed comedy event brings together Watts with five of the country's best comedians - Tom Ballard, Becky Lucas, Nick Cody, Nikki Britton and Dave Thornton - for six hours of comedy, music, wine, gourmet grub and festival vibes. Sunday, 12pm. Pialligo Estate. Tickets are $74.97 from Moshtix.
4. Have a cold one
Come Sunday, summer will have officially arrived and Beer Day Out is ringing in the warmer weather with a few cold ones and Canberra produce. Brewery stalls will be offering free samples to everybody over the age of 18, while boutique food trucks will be keeping everyone well-fed. There will also be live music and for the little ones, there will be a visit from Santa, plus face-painting, a jumping castle and balloons. Sunday, 11am-3pm. Fyshwick Markets. Free event.
5. Santa Paws
It's less than a month until Christmas so why not get into the festive spirit with your four-legged friend? Haig Park Paw Party: Christmas edition is on this weekend and it's celebrating all things dog. There will be a dog agility course for your pooch, plus a visit from Santa who you can get your photo taken with. There will also be a canine behavioural adviser giving out tips, some of the #DogsofHaig photos on display as well as a coffee cart. Plus there will be a Wishing Tree so you can support local Canberra pups by donating some much-needed dog food. Saturday, 10am-1pm. Haig Park. Free event.
