THE plight of koalas in bushfires ravaging swathes of NSW right now have made some of the most heartbreaking headlines in recent weeks.
But the heavens opened and smiled on the koalas in Walhallow with a decent downpour giving some sweet relief to this furry fella.
"It was so sad to see it sitting in the middle of the road, soaking wet, drinking a puddle of water," Ms Sampson said.
Walhallow has a significant koala population, Ms Sampson said.
"It is a bit of breeding zone for koalas, you will see them in people's yards and in the school grounds," she said.
"People in the community look out for them."
She first shared the images on social media where the koala "went viral".
Her original post was shared more than 1700 times.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched at the end of October to help raise money for the Port Macquarie koala hospital.
To date, the campaign has raised more than $1.6 million to help treat koalas harmed in the fires.
