In a video posted to the Perisher Facebook page, snow could be seen falling on the Village Eight Express chairlift.
Snow showers were forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology for Tuesday in the Perisher Valley.
Snow showers typically occur for a short period and, like rain showers, form from convective clouds. About 18 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in Perisher on Tuesday.
The overnight temperature for Perisher is expected to drop to minus 5 degrees.
While there was snow to the south of Canberra, to the east a bushfire in Tallaganda National Park, about 30 kilometres south of Bungendore, burned out of control.
The fire was initially reported to be about 600 hectares in size, but a NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said this was overestimated. At 8pm, Tuesday the fire was at approximately 400 hectares.
A bulldozer is being used to create containment lines, and the NSW Rural Fire Service will work overnight to bring the fire under control. Containment is expected to be completed tomorrow. Fire conditions are expected to ease.
There are no immediate threats to properties but units are in position to protect properties in the Alpine Valley area if required. The fire is at advice level.
