2019 marks a big year for assistive technology supplier Mobility Matters as they launch their custom seating and wheelchair service off the back of their recent acquisition by the Leef Group.

This is a national network with over 100 years of combined health and disability solutions experience.

Mobility Matters have appointed a new regional sales manager, Melinda O'Dea who transferred over from Equip4Living, another Leef Group company in Darwin.

Using her experience in assistive technology, Melinda has helped many clients with a variety of complex postural and pressure injury challenges.

This ensures successful outcomes for all by working closely with occupational therapists and other health professionals.

For many clients, having a customised seating and wheelchair prescription is incredibly important.

For people who need to spend seated lengthy periods in a wheelchair, this specialist service provides postural solutions for individual body shapes, functional and medical condition requirements.

This helps them to do the things they want to more effectively and comfortably.

Melinda and her experienced team take into consideration a client's condition, home environment, what they wish to use their equipment for and any personal preferences.

All of this helps to identify the most practical options for that client to achieve their best health, mobility and goals.

They focus on manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and postural needs, depending on the client's priorities.

Off-the-shelf options, individualised assistive technology combinations and, if required, the provision of highly customised complex seating and mobility solutions are all available to try in store.

Mobility Matters offer assessment facilities with hoists, plinths and other equipment to support safe transfers, and can trial alternative solutions within the assessment process.

"At Mobility Matters we put our customers at the centre of our focus," Melinda says.

"Every individual person needs to be heard, and we work closely with them to understand their activity and independence goals.

"We achieve the best outcomes for our clients because we have extensive in-depth knowledge of custom specialised disability equipment.

"Plus we make sure to accurately measure our clients, and we take into consideration their abilities, pressure injury risk, day-to-day activities and environment.

"We ensure we look and find our client's ability not their disability, striving to help them achieve their goals whatever they may be."

The customised seating and wheelchair service is just one of the many new initiatives being championed by Mobility Matters and the wider Leef Group.

They continue their search for new ways to assist those who are living with physical or cognitive challenges, ageing or are undergoing rehabilitation to regain their independence.

Alison Vigners, founder of Mobility Matters, says that the transition to Leef will usher in a new world of possibilities for the business.

"Becoming part of Leef has allowed us to improve and expand our service and reach more customers nationally," Alison said.

"Mobility Matters has been established in the community for 40 years and are renowned for our reputable service.

"I'm very excited our services will continue expanding so we can offer the broadest and most innovative product range on a national scale."
