Last week saw the shock closure of the Deakin Early Education Centre; this week saw a happier event - the opening of the (totally unrelated) Wonderschool childcare centre in Throsby.
The 80-place centre was launched on Wednesday night with a twilight celebration including a welcome to country ceremony.
The centre will cater for children aged six weeks to five years. The first children will start attending the centre on Monday.
Other Wonderschool centres are planned for Red Hill, Macgregor, Dickson, Taylor and Bungendore in 2020.
Wonderschool's Throsby operation manager Sarah Wilcox said children would be "encouraged to engage in risky play in our natural spaces, engage in creative art experiences, explore our local community spaces and delve into extended research projects with their educators".
